Updating the Vault

If you’ve been meaning to check out the Vault in The Family History Guide, now’s a great time to do it. The Vault is where we keep links to extra articles and videos on family history topics.

The Vault has been a popular (but not creepy) hangout place for genealogists, since The Family History Guide was created. We recently added link number 1,000 to the Vault—and we’re still growing. So this is a great opportunity to do a bit of tidying up and reorganizing as we prepare for the future.

What’s New

Here’s a quick look at what’s new in the Vault (www.thefhguide.com/vault.html) …

  • Simplified topic list in the header area. We’ve narrowed down the list to make it easier to navigate. Here’s what it looks like at the time of this posting:

  • New categories. We’ve added quite a few new categories (“Choices”) in the Vault. In many cases this makes for smaller groups of links that are easier to scan at a glance. Each Choice can be opened or closed to show or hide content.
  • Cleanup. We found a few links that were outdated, so we replaced them with more current content; we hope you’ll enjoy them, as well as the many new links that have been added. As of this writing, there are links to 419 videos and 613 articles … 1033 in all.
  • Pictures. We’ve added a few pictures in the Vault, for a bit of variety.

What’s Next

Stay tuned for the next big thing: we’re adding links to over 400 articles and videos for Partner topics in FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, and Findmypast. These will include categories such as Navigation, Help, Features, and more.
