It’s a Date: Adding Dates to the Article and Video Links

In a recent blog article on The Family History Guide, we mentioned that dates (years) have been added to entries in the Vault. The entries are sorted by year, within video and article categories, with blanks for unknown years.

Now we have begun adding years for article and video links in the main part of The Family History Guide. Unlike the Vault years, the years in the main part are not sorted chronologically; they are attached to links in the familiar structure of learning steps.

Adding years to the links sitewide is a huge effort and will take some time, but the benefit is that it will help users quickly see newer vs. older resources. As of this writing, years have been added for the Goals A1 through B6 in the United States page, with many more to come.

Note: Older resources in The Family History Guide are still useful and relevant. When that becomes otherwise, the resources are pulled out of the website.

Resource Rotation

As part of the updating effort for adding years, selected article and video links from the Vault are being moved to the main part of The Family History Guide. You can use the “Main” link in each Vault category to move to the corresponding section in the main part of The Family History Guide, and Vault link to return to the Vault category.
