Update: Online Tracker Reporting System

At RootsTech 2019 a few weeks ago, we gave a brief demo of the upcoming Online Reporting System for
The Family History Guide, and it generated quite a bit of interest, especially among family history consultants. As described in the demo, consultants will be able to create reporting groups and run online reports to show totals for skill levels achieved in The Family History Guide.

Here’s a quick update on reporting basics and how things are progressing towards the initial release of the Online Reporting System. Note: Features described in this article may be subject to change in the release version.

The Basics

To create reports, you need to have a free Online Tracker account and then set up one or more Reporting Groups. Report totals are based on the positions of slider bars that are set in the Online Tracker accounts of those participating in the Reporting Group. Each Choice with a non-zero slider bar value is accumulated into the report totals. Slider bars should be moved in accordance with the Good or Proficient levels achieved in the Exercises for Choices in The Family History Guide.

Release

We anticipate that Version 1 of The Online Reporting System will be available on the site in April, 2019. In addition to the features listed below, it will also include Historical Data reporting. This feature will display report totals over a selected time span.

Current Features

In addition to the Report Group setup, described in this blog post, the Online Reporting System currently has the following features:

  • Group selection: Select one of your Report Groups from the drop-down menu.
  • Group (arrange) by Learning Path: Show results for each Learning Path that has Choices data.
  • Group (arrange) by Project: Show results for each Project that has Choices data.
  • Group (arrange) by Goal: Show results for each Goal that has Choices data.
  • Group by None (include all totals)
  • Filter by Project: Select a Project from a list and show results for only that Project.

You can select a reporting feature by checking its box in the “Group by” list.
