What’s New in The Family History Guide – Aug. 2023

Summer is great time for vacations, family trips, family history – and for updating The Family History Guide.

Here is a brief summary of what we’ve been up to lately, with content updates on the website:

  • QUIKLinks—We’ve added several hundred QUIKLinks to record collections from FamilySearch, Ancestry, and MyHeritage. These can be found at the end of many Choices in country pages, highlighted by the lightning bolt icons that also appear in the Goal area at the top of the pages.
  • Practice Exercises—The Practice Exercises for country pages continue to roll in. There are now 24 volunteers from BYU Pathways working to contribute fun and helpful exercises for everyone.
  • Newspaper images and resources—In each U.S. state page there is now an image from a historical newspaper image that can be enlarged to see details from the original issue. Also, we have included links in the state pages to the OldNewspaperResources.com website for helpful info on historical newspapers.
  • New articles and videos—We’ve added many new article and video links from websites such as LegacyTree, Family History Daily, Price Genealogy, Ancestral Findings, Family Locket, and more. These are available in both the Main and Vault sections of The Family History Guide.
  • Vault refresh—In addition to new article and video links, there are now some additional sub-categories to help with overall organization.
  • Caribbean—We’ve added new individual country pages for the Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, and Haiti.
