Troy Dunn Will Kick Off The Family History Guide Presentation Friday March 2 at RootsTech in SLC, Utah!

When a man believes deeply in a noble cause and devotes his heart and soul to it, there is no stopping the good that he can accomplish. Troy Dunn is such a man. Because of his commitment to helping reunite families across the globe, tens of thousands have benefited, and billions have been inspired by his efforts. This mission began by finding lost family members and has expanded to helping families reconstruct fractured relationships. Troy’s love of families and family history is evident in both his professional and personal life. He is a champion of The Family History Guide! The Family History Guide Association is honored to have him introduce their presentation, “Introduction to The Family History Guide” at RootsTech 2018. It will be held at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday, March 2rd, at 3 pm in Ballroom J.  Bob Taylor and Bob Ives will be presenting (see class description below). Thank you, Troy!

From Troy’s professional bio:

TroyTheLocator.com was founded by Troy Dunn and his mother Katie, for the purpose of continuing their mission of “reuniting half the world with the other half”. In 1990, Troy helped his own mother (who was adopted as a baby) locate her own biological family. That single event caused Troy and his then-business-partner to build an organization that did one thing- help people reunite with long lost friends and family members.

That mission has expanded from locating loved ones to also include the difficult work of rebuilding fractured relationships of all kinds. In the past 25 years, Troy and his team have assisted tens of thousands of people worldwide in repairing their lives and their families. It is believed that well over 3 billion people have witnessed Troy in action, changing lives and healing old wounds.

Troy has starred in TWO hit TV shows; “The Locator” on WEtv and “APB With Troy Dunn” on TNT. He is also seen frequently on the #1 daytime talk show, “Dr. Phil”, where he teams up with his long-time friend Phil McGraw to assist in rebuilding the lives of those who come seeking help. Additionally, Troy Dunn has personally appeared (many, many times) on virtually every network morning show and syndicated talk show in the U.S. plus TV guest appearances on shows on the BBC in the U.K. and Canada. His show “The Locator” continues to be played every day somewhere in the world including Canada (On the OWN channel) Germany, Ireland, France, Puerto Rico, and 12 other countries!

Troy Dunn has authored several best-selling books including “Young Bucks; How To Raise A Future Millionaire”, “It’s Never Too Late; Life Lessons From The Locator’ and his most recent bestseller, “Family: The GOOD F Word” who wrote the foreword for it. He has been interviewed by Oprah, Barbara Walters, Anderson Cooper and dozens of other media dignitaries.

Troy recently founded Foresight Media Management, a Utah-based media consulting agency helping small and large companies embrace the power of using media to build brands and revenue. His vast resources from a New York Times best-selling publishing company to a Los Angeles-based television production studio, to a global podcast network, Troy’s new agency is rapidly becoming one of the premier media agencies for entrepreneurs and corporations everywhere.

He is married to his high school sweetheart Jennifer and they have 8 children. Troy’s charities of choice are: The Life Raft Group (The research fundraiser group for G.I.S.T. a rare form of cancer, which his daughter Josalin battles.) the Ronald McDonald House (where Troy & his daughter spent countless nights) and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (The disease his TWO grand-children battle every day.)

  1. Outstanding! We are honored to have Troy with us at RootsTech, and we are big fans of what he has accomplished. We look forward to great things together in the future!

  2. Having experienced the amazing reunion of our family with a first cousin in 2015, I know from personal experience, I that what Troy is doing is so important. To be able to help in a small way (with a blog post I wrote) to reunite William with his five siblings at age 68, was so choice. It was one of the best feelings in the world to see these adult children completely embrace their long lost brother. There is hardly anything in this life that can bring more joy into our lives then reuniting families.
