The Trainers Menu Gets a Refresh

It’s an enjoyable problem to have: the number of trainers, consultants, and family history centers and libraries using The Family History Guide for training is increasingly rapidly! To better meet the needs of many trainers worldwide, we have streamlined the Trainers menu and add some new improvements.

Here’s a summary of what to look for in the new and improved Trainers Menu:

Menu Items

There new menu is shorter, as the Audience types have been move to the Audiences page. Also, “Consultants” is now a separate category, and The Facebook Group links appear at the bottom of the menu.

Trainers Home Page

The Home page in the Trainers menu has been condensed, showing six major tiles with links: Course Catalog, Consultants, Audiences, Certified Trainers, Resources, and the Facebook Group for Trainers and Consultants.

Header Areas

Each sub-page in the Trainers are now has a consistent header area to make it easier to find other training pages and items you are looking for. Remember that on a mobile device you can close the “Trainers” button to hide the header area temporarily and save viewing space on the screen.

Train Consultants

The Train Consultants page has changed quite a bit. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Training Session One: There are now two suggested training sessions for Consultants. Session One has two variations; one for Temple and Family History Consultants, and one for other Trainers and Consultants. Session One includes an introduction to The Family History Guide, as well as an updated slide deck for Temple and Family History Consultants.
  • Training Session Two: The second training session is activity-driven, with opportunities for exploring The Family History Guide, sharing insights, and answering sample questions that learners might ask about family history.
  • Helper Resources: This section has been updated to reflect the newer changes on the FamilySearch Helper Resources pages. In particular, it focuses on how The Family History Guide can support the Personalized Family History Experiences in the Helper Resources.

We hope you enjoy the new Trainers menu! Feel free to share it with other family history Consultants and Trainers you know.
