RootsTech 2020 is Just Around the Corner!

RootsTech 2020 is the 10th Anniversary of RootsTech in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is in the Salt Palace again! It is such a fabulous venue and right in the heart of the city near Temple Square and the Family History Library, the flagship of the nearly 5000 other libraries worldwide. The 2020 dates are February 26-29! Yes, it is Leap Year! RootsTech is something I love to attend and look forward to and plan for each year. They started taking reservations for the conference this past week. For your early bird special pricing and discounts for Family History Consultants go to their website.

RootsTech has always been so successful but each year it gets better and better. Last year there were so many wonderful improvements that alleviated the frustration of long lines. Jen Allen and her team really made significant changes that have benefited all who attended. The venue was enlarged by adding more large classrooms, there is no scanning of badges at the doors anymore, and they even added free lunches on certain days for all attendees! Best of all, there are no long lines for picking up bags and badges on opening day or any other day. That alone increased the love by 100%! Saturday has traditionally been a free family day. Another great thing is there are so many more people volunteering now, wearing special RootsTech shirts to help you with your questions. You can go to Rootstech.org and get all kinds of information.

The theme this year is The Story of You. I really enjoy their series of videos called “Road to RootsTech“, as each episode shares things to know that are important for new and returning conference-goers, put together by Jen Allen and her RootsTech Team. The great changes that have been made make the conference seem so much more relaxed, spacious and comfortable even for people like me, who do not seek out big crowds. This is a group of like-minded people who are courteous, friendly, and wonderful. Additionally, RootsTech is such a great place to meet new people and renew old friendships.

There are always so many great classes to attend that it is exciting to choose where to go! The RootsTech App makes it very easy to plan in advance how you will spend your days. If you missed the presentation last year by The Family History Guide’s management team members, Scott and Angelle Anderson, you can watch it here.  They teamed up with FamilySearch’s Merrill White for a very fun presentation about strengthening families with family history activities. Don’t miss it!  It will make you laugh and even tear up and is very heartwarming.

In 2020 The Family History Guide will have a wonderful, large booth in the Expo Hall again. There will be lots of mini-classes and personal demos there for you. Lots of great information will be given to you, and you’ll have some fun too! We will be there to answer your questions and talk with you one-on-one. We all get very excited to meet each of you! Our favorite thing of all may be seeing people discover The Family History Guide for the first time.  We’ve heard, “This was worth the price of admission!” more than once. Our team is so united on so many levels, but especially in our love for teaching you about family history and making sharing it so easy. Keep in touch with the RootsTech Conference and our involvement with it here on the blog and other social media platforms, and especially right on our website. If you are planning to come, we’ll see you there. If you weren’t planning to come, there is still time to change your mind!
