Introducing Goal Quizzes

In the Trainers menu of The Family History Guide, you’ll find a page for Quizzes. These are interactive tests you can take to check on your knowledge of family history topics. To date, this page has included the following kinds of quizzes:

  • Overview — covers the basics of the entire site for The Family History Guide (20 questions)
  • FamilySearch — quizzes for Project 1: Family Tree and Project 2: Memories (20 questions and 10 questions)
  • Ancestry — quizzes for Ancestry Project 2: Family Tree and Project 3: Docs and Photos (20, 10)
  • MyHeritage— quiz for MyHeritage Project 2: Family Tree (20 questions)
  • Findmypast — quiz for Findmypast Project 2: Family Tree (20 questions)

Now we are adding “Goal Quizzes” to the mix!

About Goal Quizzes

As the name implies, a Goal Quiz covers the content of a single Goal in a Project. These are ideal for both trainers and individual learners, to assess learning in a smaller scope. You can find links for Goal Quizzes at the beginning of the Goal page, as well as on the main Quizzes page. Here’s an example of the Goal Quiz link in FS Project 1: Family Tree, Goal 1 …

And here’s what the new section for Goal Quizzes looks like on the main Quizzes page:

These are just a few of the many Goal Quizzes we will be implementing – stay tuned for more!

Other Changes

As we added the new Goal Quizzes, we took the opportunity to make a few improvements to existing quizzes on the site:

  • Added graphics for questions where needed
  • Improved the design consistency across quizzes, including cover pages, fonts, etc.
  • Added copyright info at the bottom of quiz slides

We hope you enjoy the new Goal Quizzes. Try them out when you get the chance!
