Announcing the “Come Follow Me” Companion, from The Family History Guide

We are excited to announce that The Family History Guide now includes a family history Companion for the 2019 Come Follow Me gospel study program from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. (These Companion pages are produced by The Family History Guide Association, not the Church.)

You can find the Come Follow Me Companion in the Faiths menu of The Family History Guide, under “Church of Jesus Christ.”

The 2019 area of study is the New Testament, and the Companion pages provide related family history activities and study for each week in the Come Follow me yearly schedule. (Currently, 10 weeks of activities are finished in the Companion, with the rest to follow soon.) We feel that regular involvement as families or individuals in family history activities and learning will open doors to the rich blessings promised by Church leaders.

Here is a quick overview of what you’ll find in the Companion:

Home Page

The Home page for the Companion has several key areas. The header area has links to the Study Center (see this blog post for more info about the Study Center) and the weekly Schedule. Click the Schedule link to open or close it (the colored links are the currently active ones).

The Schedule is also duplicated in the main part of the Home page for convenience. There are also resource links at the bottom of the Home page that lead to articles and videos about Come Follow Me, as well as family history talks from General Authorities.

Weekly Pages

Clicking a link from the Schedule takes you to a Companion page that’s coordinated with the weekly Come Follow Me content. Here are some samples:

Week 1 (January 1-6):

Week 2 (January 7-13):

Enjoy the Companion to Come Follow Me for 2019, from The Family History Guide Association. You can get started now on the Home page of the Companion, or go right to the Week 1 lesson plan.

Look for more weekly lesson plans to be added soon, and we look forward to a great 2019 of gospel and family history study! Feel free to spread the word to others who may be interested in this valuable tool for home-centered family history activities and learning.

  1. This is just what was needed to keep family history on the minds of good people everywhere! It makes it SO EASY to coordinate family history fun activities and topics right along with Gospel study. Also great links to other family history things to do and more importantly, how to get started and easily dig into your roots.

  2. I agree with Bob Ives so much. We could do a great service for the Stake Presidents and Bishops in our areas by forwarding this link. What a gift to them to see how this new program can be implemented in their areas. This is a win/win for everyone. Thank you to The Family History Guide once again.

  3. Awesome! This is absolutely one of the best helps to come out of The Family History Guide! It can be a great tool to help Ward Temple and Family History Consultants get into all the families in their ward.

  4. I love this! This gives me immediate ideas to bring family history activities into my family, week by week. Thank you!

  5. This is fantastic Bob Ives!! Our stake has “Family Night” at the Family History Center every Thursday night. Each ward invites one family to have a Personal Family History Experience with games and activities created just for them. We can now use our “Family Night” to introduce these activities and this website to our Bishops and Elders Quorum Presidents by inviting their families to participate and use this great Family History Guide Companion component!! Thanks so much!!!!
