Welcome to our New Intern, Julia Cook

We are excited to welcome our newest Intern for The Family History Guide Association, Julia Cook. She is comes to us recommended by the Student Development Department at Brigham Young University.

Julia has already begun working on evaluating content links in The Family History Guide, to optimize how content is arranged between the main sections of the website and the Vault.

About Julia

Julia is majoring in Global Studies at Brigham Young University, with an emphasis in International Development. She speaks Korean, having served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Korea, and also speaks French and a bit of Scottish Gaelic.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea, she offered translation, lodging, and transportation support in Korean, English, and French. She also reviewed Korean families’ ancestry record books (called chokbo).

From April to June 2017, Julia represented Brigham Young University in Otutati, Namibia, where she assisted Anthropology students in collecting data for their final theses. She also conducted interviews with the Himba people and wrote final reports on her findings.
