The Family History Guide in Ontario

Recently, The Family History Guide was highlighted at the “One World, One Family” Conference held in Toronto, Canada. People from all over the Toronto area were invited to the Conference to learn more about their family history. Elder and Sister Johnson (names changed) were instrumental in helping coordinate efforts at the Conference, as well as setting up a display booth for The Family History Guide. Here are some excerpts from an email they sent to us, recapping the events at the Conference …

“Things went well Friday and Saturday. We spoke Friday night to Temple and Family History Consultants all over Ontario about The Family History Guide. There were quite a few consultants that attended, looking for help. We went through the highlights of the Family History Guide with them, and then the Come, Follow Me Companion. Quite a few of them came up to us and wanted more information or links to the different videos and places in the presentation.

One young adult approached us and said they had just called a number of Young Adults as Temple and Family History Consultants in the Toronto area and wanted our contact information. A man from another area was newly called. He had all new people working with him and was very interested in what The . We pulled out The Family History Guide pass-along cards and handed them out.

We had our booth Saturday. It was a good experience, because we could explain more to consultants about The The Family History Guide. The missionaries helped us hand out pass-along cards and flyers. The zone leaders said they are spreading our online resources for the missionaries to the rest of the zone. One man wants to order pass-along cards for his stake.”

Here is a sample photo of the booth that was set up for The Family History Guide at the “One World, One Family Conference”:

The email continues:

“A man from India and his wife came to the booth on Saturday. They are doing a presentation tonight in Scarborough Ward on Family History, particularly for people from India. They invited us and asked us to spread flyers at church today, which happens to be our stake conference. We are going to the fireside, since about 60% of the Brampton area is from India.”

We are grateful for the efforts of the Johnsons and others who do so much to introduce others to family history, as well as sharing The Family History Guide. Perhaps you will be involved in a family history fair or conference in the near future, or you work with Temple and Family History Consultants who could use an extra boost with their efforts. If so, consider the difference The Family History Guide could make for you. If you have questions or need assistance in any way, please contact us. Good luck!
