The Activities section of The Family History Guide is one of its most popular, and it has grown significantly in the past few months. Across the four main sections, we now offer nearly 300 fun and engaging family history activities for everyone. Here’s the breakdown by number of activities:

  • Family—66
  • Individuals—80
  • Youth—65
  • Kids Corner—65

And more to come!

With that growth, we felt it was time to redesign the Activities Index for ease of use. It now has four columns, arranged alphabetically, so you can see more activities without scrolling. Here’s a partial sample:

Farther down the page, there is a section for Activities for Latter-day Saints. You can get to it quickly by using the link near the top of the page:

New: Direct Links

You’ll notice that when you click a link from the new Activities Index, it now goes directly to the activity, displaying it at the top of the page (instead of just opening the page to view). This eliminates extra scrolling. To access a link for an activity from the URL bar, just add the activity number at the end of the address, preceded by a pound sign (#). For example, to get to activity #10 in the Individuals page, you would use this:

https://www.thefhguide.com/act-individuals.html#10

New: Prep Time Indicators

For those with busy schedules, finding a family history activity that requires little or no preparation time may be very helpful. We have now added an asterisk in the title of each activity that qualifies as no-prep or low-prep. You can see these in the Activities pages themselves or in the Index of Activities. Please note that preparation times can be somewhat subjective based on circumstances, but these indicators should serve as guidelines to follow.

We hope you enjoy the new Activities Index!
