The Greater Omaha Genealogical Society is one of the largest in the state of Nebraska. As noted on its website, its goals are to

• Unite persons interested in the pursuit and study of genealogy and family history,
• Encourage the preservation of public and private records,
• Encourage the use of sound genealogical practices, and
• Promote programs of education for further growth and development in these fields.

The society also publishes a regular newsletter to its members, and the May issue has a Genealogy 101 article that spotlights The Family History Guide.
