“Discover, Gather, and Connect” and The Family History Guide

You have probably noticed the Church is now describing the process of doing family history work as “Discover, Gather, and Connect”. This new initiative was introduced at RootsTech 2018 by President and Sister Oaks in a keynote session. To see a brief video of the address, click the picture at the right.

Changes to the LDS Project Page

In the LDS Project for The Family History Guide, we have updated Goal 8 to reflect the new Discover, Gather, and Connect program. The Choices in this Goal explain how to effectively use The Family History Guide to

  • Discover your ancestors, by learning FamilySearch and other tools and doing family history research
  • Gather family history stories and other information from your ancestors
  • Connect with your ancestors into eternal families by providing temple ordinances for them

Changes to the Train Consultants Page

In the Train Consultants page for The Family History Guide, we have updated the section on the Consultant Planner. It now provides suggestions to Temple and Family History Consultants for integrating The Family History Guide into the lesson plans and progress tracking that are vital to success.

Moving Ahead

We wish you success with the new Discover, Gather, and Connect program, whether you are helping others as a Temple and Family History Consultant or working on your own family history work. Remember that The Family History Guide can be a great addition to this new program, helping you to accelerate your research and connect your families.
