Update: New Guided Learning Videos

We’ve been hard at work with the Guided Learning video library, preparing for RootsTech 2026 in just over a month. Since our last update, we have added over 20 new videos for international research, and we haves enhanced some of the features for our existing videos. Here’s a recap of the changes:

New Videos

New: Screenshot Links

Previously, the screenshots in the Guided Learning videos showed where (Goal and Choice) to find the study material in The Family History Guide, but it was up to the learner to navigate to the article or video to open it. Now you can click on the red rectangle in a screenshot and open the article or video directly without having to navigate to it:

New: Background Images

Instead of a blank background on the video screen for the study exercises, we now have photographs behind the instructions to add variety:

New: More Avatars

As you explore the new Guided Learning videos for international research, you’ll notice that we’ve added quite a few new avatars to guide you through the learning assignments. Each avatar is based on a live actor who was recorded by the Synthesia company. We type the script for the avatar, and the Synthesia AI software converts it into natural speech, with synchronized face movements and gestures in the video. Currently we have 27 avatars and will be adding more.

What’s Next?

Look for more Guided Learning videos coming soon, of course. Also, one our next big projects will be to add language-translated videos. A Spanish language example is shown below. Stay tuned!
