The Family History Guide in the FamilySearch Portal

Shortly after The Family History Guide went online in 2015, it was added to the Portal page in the family history centers. Currently there are about 5,000 family history centers in operation around the world.

With the recent FamilySearch changes to catalogs and materials, the Portal was updated. We are happy to say that The Family History Guide still enjoys a prominent location on the Portal page, as you can see in the screen shot below. It’s at the top of the list of “Browse Various Resources Available to You – Genealogical Resources.”

About the Portal

The Portal for family history centers has links to premium software, such as the full Ancestry version, Newspapers.com, etc. These sites would normally require a paid subscription, but you can access them for free at any family history center or FamilySearch Library. While The Family History Guide is a free site, it is included in the Portal page to signify its importance as an essential family history resource. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with FamilySearch in making family history easier and more accessible, to more people everywhere.
