Resources from the Allen County Public Library

One of the top genealogical libraries in the United States is the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Its Genealogy Center provides a number of helpful resources, such as

  • PERSI, the online Periodical Search Index for locating genealogy articles
  • Gateways for African American and Native American research
  • Family histories and corresponding information files
  • Free online and on-site databases for searching records

There is an Our Services page with links to the “Ask a Librarian” feature and an opportunity to schedule a 30-minute personal research consultations with a staff member on an aspect of your research. There are also links to social media pages for genealogy, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Genealogy Center YouTube Channel

The Genealogy Center has an extensive YouTube Channel, with about 250 videos narrated by expert genealogists.

The Family History Guide has included links to over 80 of these, including topics such as U.S. state research, immigration, writing family stories, Irish resources, and much more. These are in various Goal pages in The Family History Guide, as well as in the Vault.
