Goal 7: Create & Upload a Family Tree



Goal 7: (Optional) Create a family tree and upload it to a website.


When your tree is uploaded to a family history website, others can suggest corrections and additions. Likewise, you can take advantage of existing trees on websites to enhance your own.

Choices


AEnter your family tree data into the software you selected in Goal 6.


  1. For instructions on entering or uploading your tree data, refer the the website for the software you selected.
  2. Search existing family trees for information you can add to your tree. Note : Be sure to carefully check information on other trees for accuracy and sources. Some trees have incorrect or unsupported information.
  3. Select a family history site that will host your tree, such as FamilySearch, Ancestry, Findmypast, or MyHeritage.
  4. Use the Ancestry message boards to read or post questions about genealogy software.

BUpload your tree to a family history site. Follow the instructions on the site or software package for doing this.
