As many of you know, that’s Royals and Chiefs territory, and the shirts and caps with those logos were on display everywhere. And so was the Missouri hospitality I experienced.

GenealogyKC is smaller compared to some conferences, but it more than makes up for it with its smooth operation and nice variety of workshops. I gave two presentations of “Introduction to The Family History Guide” and one of “Training with The Family History Guide.” All the sessions were well-attended, and the enthusiasm for the website was high. (This is a familiar but welcome occurrence – I never tire of watching people’s first reactions to The Family History Guide and its possibilities!)

The Saturday morning keynote speaker was Andy Reid, head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team. After a lunch featuring that famous Kansas City pulled pork, we were treated to Polynesian dancing by a local group. Also, several of the attendees in the session for The Family History Guide volunteered as Regional Trainers, and one as a Content Specialist. We’ll have more information on those two initiatives in a later post.

All in all, it was a great trip and a nice opportunity to get people acquainted with The Family History Guide.

I just returned a few days ago from presenting at the GenealogyKC Conference in Kansas City.
