One of the great things about these guides is that they provide essential resources and overviews, in an easy-to-use format.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the <a class=\"lk\" href=\"https:\/\/guides.lib.byu.edu\/familyhistory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">family history subject guide<\/a> are tabs for the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beginning Research: Tips for starting your family history journey, sample videos for beginners, print resources, and online resources. Note that <em>The Family History Guide<\/em> is listed as a primary online training resource.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Research: Links to special collections on genealogy in the BYU Archives and Library, as well as several research databases and genealogy journals<\/li>\n<li>Genealogy Databases: Links to alphabetical and resource lists from the library, as well as key family history record websites, digital libraries, and additional databases<\/li>\n<li>Newspapers: Sources for core news, U.S. and Canadian digital newspapers, international news, business news, and Utah newspapers<\/li>\n<li>Oral Histories: Links to world oral histories on FamilySearch, as well as resources for the U.S., Western U.S., and Asia<\/li>\n<li>Discovery and Activities: Links to family history activities from FamilySearch, The BYU Family History Technology Lab, American Ancestors, and <em>The Family History Guide, <\/em>as well as sample discovery videos.<\/li>\n<li>Preserving Memories: Tips from the BYU Conservators site, as well as links to a number of helpful videos on the BYU Family History YouTube Channel<\/li>\n<li>Maps for Genealogy: Guides and indexes for maps, selected cartographic journals, and maps and gazetteers for genealogists<\/li>\n<li>BYU Family History Library: A general overview of resources available at the Harold B.
