This is a fairly daunting task, given the huge amount of family history information out there on the Internet, and the changing nature of technology.

Overall, we’ve been told by our site users that we are doing a good job of keeping up (much appreciated, by the way). There are a few key things we rely on to make this all work …

We choose quality items to link to. You’d be surprised at how much of a difference this makes. Quality content tends to be more stable, which means the websites and links stick around instead of disappearing into the Internet night. Getting it right means a better experience for our users.

We have some “insiders” who regularly help with content review, including Laurie Beardall of the Sandy Granite Family History Center, and Barbara Hogeland of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.

Our user community keeps us on our toes. We get emails (info@thefhguide.com) when our users notice we’ve missed something on the website, or something isn’t quite right – and we appreciate it! We also have a Content Review form available in the Misc. menu on the website.

We have a fast turnaround time for comments. We usually reply back on suggestions within 24 hours, and when the idea is a winner – as it often is – we may be able to update the website the same or next day, depending on the nature of the changes.

As we go forward, we’ll keep quality content uppermost in our minds; it has helped us expand to over 150 countries in the world, with an ever-increasing user base. It all goes toward the 3 “E’s” of our mission statement; we make learning family history easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable.

One of the stated goals of The Family History Guide website is to keep our content fresh and relevant.
