It is to be read in\u00a0sacrament meetings Sunday, December 17th, 2017. In part, it reads:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are grateful for the increase in temple history work being completed by the faithful youth of the Church&#8230;In unprecedented numbers, young women and young men throughout the world are\u00a0<!--more--><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">researching, finding, and bringing family names to the temple to perform baptisms and confirmations. . . . We are confident that these changes will bless the lives of youth and children throughout the Church.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This change will begin\u00a0Jan. 1st. Young women ages 12-18 now may assist with tasks in the temple baptistry performed previously only by adult women <a href=\"http:\/\/thefhguide.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1415 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefhguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/700515349-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefhguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/700515349-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thefhguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/700515349-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thefhguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/700515349-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.thefhguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/700515349.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>serving as temple ordinance workers or volunteers. Ordained priests ages 16-18 will now be able to perform baptisms for the dead and act as witnesses for baptisms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The First Presidency also announced a change for 11-year-olds in regard to the annual priesthood preview meeting to introduce 11-year-old boys to the priesthood. As you grow older, you will be able to participate in receiving the other ordinances as well.
