Features Help Is Here

We recently gave a sneak peek at the new Features Help page, and one day later … it’s here.

Find out more below …

You can find Features Help in the Misc. menu, or here:

What’s Inside

Features Help is rather unusual. It gives very basic information, such as how to find a feature and begin to use it, but it also provides tips and little-known points of interest about the features as well.

As mentioned in the sneak peek, the Features Help page gives you important insights into some of the popular features of The Family History Guide: Activities, Countries, Languages, Navigation, Online Tracker, Project Pages, QUIKLinks, and the Vault. There are also links in the header area of the page to help you quickly locate a feature.

Here’s a summary of what you’ll find in Features Help for each one of the features:

  • Activities – find the activities you need, including using ID numbers, expanding steps, and using cross-references to The Family History Guide
  • Countries – find research pages for regions, countries, states, provinces, and counties, as well as collector pages for regions
  • Languages – use Google Translate to translate page from The Family History Guide into your preferred language; and find translations of linked articles and videos
  • Navigation – use the top menu to find features, use the Search bar, and use submenus, links to other sites, and navigation pages (Quik Start, Topics, Site Map, and Course Catalog)
  • Online Tracker – get up and running with the Online Tracker, including setting up an account, changing Tracker information, navigating between Projects, and resetting your password if necessary
  • Project Pages – learn about what FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, and Ancestry have to offer, and how to get set up with an account on each of them; also, get familiar with extra features in Projects such as Summaries, Exercises, and Instructor Tips.
  • QUIKLinks – learn how to use QUIKLinks to find records and websites faster
  • Vault – get familiar with the legend for articles and videos, and find links to Vault articles and videos quickly and easily

Enjoy the new Features Help page! We’ll keep it up to date as we add more features and content to The Family History Guide.
